Tailgate is job management for contractors. It is small on purpose, and it is built on a working company's actual Monday mornings rather than on a whiteboard full of guesses.

Who we are

Tailgate is a two person team, and both of us work on it part time. That is the whole company. There is no sales team and no support queue. If you email us, one of the two of us answers.

Working small is the reason we can build this way. A feature can go from a complaint on a job site to something you can use in the same week, because there is nobody in between.

How it gets built

Every feature comes out of a real workflow at working exterior contractors, starting with our first customer. The owners and salespeople who run these companies look at what we build and tell us where it is wrong, usually bluntly, and the software changes that week. Nothing ships because it demos well.

That is also why the product refuses to do some things. Nobody's truck gets tracked, and the crew roles are built to keep money out of sight. What already happened stays on the record instead of being quietly rewritten. Those lines came out of conversations with people who have been burned by software that did the opposite.

Where we are with it

Private early access. We are onboarding a handful of contractors by hand, which means one of us shows up and loads your real quotes with you. When the list is full, it is full, and we will say so rather than take your email and sit on it.
